Meet our International services

The Rotary Club of Peterborough has a long history of working internationally with our Rotary partners. For over 20 years we have worked in Honduras with various organizations and clubs. Most recently we established a Teacher Training Centre in the LePaterique district of the country, by funding the construction of a building that is now maintained by the local school board and municipality. The centre is staffed daily and runs monthly training sessions for teachers on various topics.

As well, we are currently involved with a Global Grant on the Honduran island of Roatan. This grant will fund the establishment of a waste recycling centre that will employ local waste-pickers and use plastic waste to produce lumber. In this way the projects supports community development and environmental stewardship in a sustainable manner.

Our new projects include work in Nepal with a Kathmandu partner club. We are supporting female development projects in this country. One of our biggest projects is the production of re-usable menstrual kits both here in Canada and in Honduras and Nepal.
